Objectives
BBU-RRH link with RFSoC to be moved from the RRH to the BBU with a 2 km fiber link, 5GNR specifications to be achieved in the link.
Hybrid fronthauling of analog and digital signals.
Establishing a hybrid radio over fiber link between the BBU-RRH with minimal occupied bandwidth (< 200 MHz occupied bandwidth) in sync with the 5G test-bed of IITM.
Deliverables
Optical modulator based frequency multiplier for generation of optical lines that are 26 GHz apart, with stable bias
Integration of 200 MHz baseband in the optical domain and generation of modulated data at 26 GHz in the RRH without using a VCO
Elimination of DAC and other programming at the RRH with the analog transport of data
Energy efficient and lighter RRHs
