Objectives

  • To develop a full-fledged coherent optical communications testbed capable of 2 Tbps communications ​

  • Increase the spectral efficiency of the link, by using higher-order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) and polarization division multiplexing​

  • Integration with other technologies enabling full-hybrid network

Deliverables

  • A testbed for beyond 2 Tbps coherent communications

  • A fully interoperable coherent optical/RoF/VLC communication systems

  • Machine learning and digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for nonlinearity compensation

  • The developed testbed will be open to external users for testing novel concepts
